beer + food
so this is from over a month ago..i've been meaning to post it. for jay's birthday i threw him a little party and decided to have a kind of oktoberfest them - basically because i wanted to make pretzels. i made these soft pretzels [from martha adapted by smitten kitchen], apple strudel [without the prunes] and spaetzle served with wilted spinach from martha and a bunch of german sausages from trader joe's. the pretzels were really good and disappeared quickly. next i want to try bagels.

ooh that all sounds so yummy. i saw an article in edible portland a bit ago that made pretzel making look like an art.
i bet bagels are fun to make - i've made cinnamon sugar donuts a few times and i don't know why but it is so fun!
