here's the coated cotton they have at ikea. i think they just have the dots. i bought a couple yards to put on a new table we got off craigslist that needs to be refinished.

i think you could make this into a bag fairly easily...
hmmm...this is probably like a lot of the "laminated cottons" that i have seen which aren't as plastic-y as actual oilcloth. the bag is pretty complex and i think i might be asking for trouble using a crazy fabric.
do you have pics of the new table? i saw one like ours at salvation army on thursday and thought of you - too bad you don't live closer!

yeah it's not worth taking a photo of this table in this state :) it's pretty simple and you'll see it soon enough... maybe i'll send you one of a chair. the fabric is kind of fun (but i want to reupholster them anyhow). we bought it because it was cheap on CL and came with 4 chairs and 3 leaves and we can host a larger thanksgiving. so excited for thanksgiving!
